How new game discovery works in GamingBuddy
GamingBuddy makes it easy to find new games to play if you like to try a variety of titles, but also don’t follow video game news daily. In this post, I want to highlight some ways that the app helps.
Published: Nov. 9, 2025Featured games + Upcoming list
The most straightforward way. On the “Games” tab, you find a prominent carousel showing hand-picked featured games - these are the big AAA releases, but also smaller titles that are worth checking out.
Right below is the Upcoming section, which you can open to view all the upcoming games the app currently knows about. Both lists are filtered to the platforms you selected.
Videogame showcases/events
Right below you will find a list of video game events that can also be viewed on a dedicated screen. This is particularly useful when there is a PlayStation State of Play or any other popular showcase that brings lots of games.
You can play the entire event, easily view the new trailers, and also see which games are premieres.
Recent reviews
The “Reviews” tab is also a good source to find new games - particularly more notable ones. You can immediately see what the critics say and view more details with just a single tap. Reviews have a short summary, and you can read them in full.
Best Games
Thanks to OpenCritic integration GamingBuddy will also show you the absolute best games. Look for the section with the same name. You can see the best games by year (going back to 2016), by platform (PC, PlayStation, or Xbox), and by popular genres. Please note that some of these sections require a subscription.
These are just some of the ways to discover new games.
GamingBuddy is a mobile app for iOS and Android that makes it easy & fun to find new games and track your collection. It has many features to organize saved games, offers countdown and other widgets + much more.
