Boost your Press Kit with lifestyle photos

Looking to increase chances of getting covered by the press? Shoot some real-life photos.

When preparing image assets for your app Press Kit, some of the assets are more obvious than others. Screenshots? Totally. Some excellent Full HD banners? Sure.

Hmm, but what else? More banners? Framed screenshots? What about lifestyle photos?

What are lifestyle photos? Photos that show your app in a real-world setting. They can either include a person using the app or just the device with some decorations.

The content of the lifestyle photos depends on the type of your app. Are you making a recipe app? Show it in a kitchen next to tasty-looking ingredients, perhaps. Productivity app? Maybe with a bit of MacBook in the office-like setting with some diary?

It doesn’t matter that much. The main priority is good lighting and a legible screen of your device.

From my anecdotal experience, the press seems to prefer lifestyle photos to traditional banners, suggesting that having some might boost your chances.

I also heard this when I was asking journalists about press kits.

And here are some of the lifestyle photos in the wild:
